Rocket Ismail and Other Dallas Sports Celebrities Join Together for the Second Annual Bowling to CureDuchenne to Help Fund Research to Find a Cure for Duchenne
DALLAS, Texas, January 16, 2014 – Rocket Ismail, former Dallas Cowboys receiver, will host the second annual Bowling to CureDuchenne event on February 16, 2014 to benefit CureDuchenne, a nonprofit that raises awareness and funds research to find a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Ismail will be joined by former Dallas Cowboys Tony Dorsett, Preston Pearson, Kevin Brooks, Larry Brown, Charles Haley, Drew Pearson, Everson Walls and former Texas Rangers Jose Guzman and Don Stanhouse as well as other sports celebrities at the fundraiser at Bowlmor Lanes in Addison, Texas.
Highland Village residents Jessica and Ted Rothe are organizing Bowling to Cure Duchenne. Their son, Nathan, lives with Duchenne. Duchenne is a progressive muscle-wasting disease that impacts 1 in 3,500 boys. Boys are usually diagnosed by 5, in a wheelchair by 12 and most don’t survive their mid-20s. Currently there is no cure or treatment. Proceeds of the event will benefit CureDuchenne to fund promising research to find a cure for Duchenne.
“We created Bowling to CureDuchenne to help raise awareness and fund research to find a cure for Duchenne,” said Jessica Rothe. “It is a great opportunity for the community to get involved and help our sons who live with Duchenne. The money raised will help fund research that could bring promising treatments to the 300,000 boys and young men worldwide living with Duchenne.”
Bowling to CureDuchenne will feature bowling, food, drinks, raffle and silent auction. Bowling to CureDuchenne sponsors include Cadillac, Masergy, Wells Fargo, Parity, Mobile Media, Remax, Texas Back Institute, Fort Worth Cops for Kids, Kohl’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Brandi B Photography, Premier Prospects, Learning Rx, Buchanan Technologies, and Youth Sports.
